Weather-wise homeowners in Amarillo keep a short list of people they trust before a problem becomes an emergency. A January furnace failure or a summer hailstorm that takes half a roof doesn't give you time to do your homework from scratch. The high plains can be hard on a house - wind, hail, temperature swings, and the kind of dry cold that finds every gap in your plumbing. The five companies on this list have earned the confidence of Amarillo residents through licensed work, honest estimates, and the kind of track record that comes from actually showing up when needed.

DeWald Remodeling and Plumbing

• Specialty: Full-service remodeling, plumbing, kitchen and bathroom renovation, fire and flood restoration
• Highlights: Founded 2010 · Free walkthroughs and detailed estimates · Serves Amarillo and Canyon area
• Location: 7010 Imperial Trail, Amarillo, TX 79106
• Contact: (806) 316-2030

Victor DeWald started this company in 2010 as a one-man operation, and what he built from that single starting point is a full-service remodeling and plumbing outfit that handles everything from kitchen and bathroom renovations to fire and flood restoration and custom cabinetry. That range matters in a city where homeowners want to call one contractor they trust rather than coordinating between three different specialists. DeWald offers free walkthroughs and detailed estimates before work begins, which is the kind of transparency that tells you something about how a company operates. Coverage extends to the Canyon area as well, so Amarillo's neighbors to the south aren't left out. For homeowners thinking about a project or dealing with a plumbing situation that needs a professional eye, this is a straightforward starting point.

Bob Jay's Heating, Air Conditioning, and Plumbing Inc.

• Specialty: HVAC repair and installation, plumbing, drain cleaning, sewer line service
• Highlights: Licensed, insured, and bonded · Background checks and drug screens for all technicians · 24/7 emergency service · Technicians wear shoe covers · 18-month same-as-cash financing
• Location: 1207 SW 6th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101
• Contact: (806) 373-2221

Bob Jay's earns a place on this list partly because of what they do and partly because of how they do it. Licensed, insured, and bonded covers the baseline, but background checks and drug screens for every technician, plus the detail that they wear shoe covers in your home, tells you this is a company that has thought through the experience of having a stranger in your house. The 24/7 emergency line for HVAC and plumbing covers the moments when a furnace quits on a January night or a pipe lets go unexpectedly. Services run from drain cleaning and pipe leaks through AC and furnace repair, sewer line replacement, and gas and water lines. Eighteen-month same-as-cash financing through Optimus gives homeowners a path through a larger unexpected expense without turning it into a financial emergency. Stop by their location on SW 6th Ave or call ahead - either way, they're set up to handle what Amarillo's weather throws at a house.
